C. Douglas Stroud
DDS - Stroud,Wilson and Thompson Family Dentistry DDS Emeritus


Dr. Stroud is no longer at the practice everyday but continues to provide direction and leadership to the trusted team of professionals at Stroud, Wilson and Thompson Family Dentistry. His vast knowledge of dentistry and the patients we serve is important for our practice to continue providing quality service with a personal touch.

Dr. Stroud is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College and the Unversity of North Carolina School of Dentistry. Following school he reserved two years in the U.S. Air Force where he received additional training. After six years in private practice, Dr. Stroud returned to Chapel Hill where he earned a masters degree in Public Health in 1977. He then came home to begin a successful practice in Shelby.

Recognized for his work in community affairs,Dr. Stroud has received the Distinguished Service Award, as well as other honors. He and his wife, Felicia, are active in foreign missions. He and his wife have participated in the Walk to Emmaus.


James S. Wilson, DDS


Dr. Wilson graduated from the University of North Carolina and the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry.  He has been in private practice since 1989 in Shelby and Mooresville, North Carolina.

He is married to the former Lori Wilkins of Gastonia, a licensed Pharmacist. They have three children Erin, Laura and Jay.  His parents are Jimmy and Ruth Wilson of Shelby.

Dr.Wilson has been active in Young Life of Cleveland County having served as Chairman of the Young Life Committee for two years. He has been an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Shelby and he and his wife have participated in the Walk of Emmaus. Dr. Wilson is also a Past President of the Shelby Kiwanis Club. He enjoys golfing and sports.


Craig D. Thompson, DMD,PA


Dr. Thompson was raised in Pittsburgh, PA and attended the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Florida and studied engineering. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine in 1987 and the Emory General Practice Dental Residency in 1988. He has been married since 1984 to Linda (also from Pittsburgh) and they have two teenage daughters Sammi Jo and Sarah.

Dr. Thompson had a successful solo dental practice in Merritt Island, FL for over 16 years until 2005.He and his family have vacationed here for a few years, and decided to relocate here full time to enjoy the cooler weather, mountains and nice people.
